Why does Haruka use "male" speech (ex. she uses the pronouns "boku" and "kimi")?

When growing up, she always saw herself as not pretty or cute enough to get a boyfriend, she prefered them as simple buddies and decided to become more like them; if boys were simple friends that was fine, if girls liked her as a handsome prince she could be admired and seen as an idol.
